The dream was simple—and, admittedly, a bit cliché.

Quit my corporate job—after countless attempts to convince myself I was fine, despite the clumps of hair I was shedding from stress—and step out of the enclosure that was my home office to simply be outdoors.

I had never traveled solo before. My experience was limited to short excursions into the local mountain ranges, and that one surf trip with a random group of people who, unexpectedly, became some of my closest friends.

The truth is, I’ve always been a bit impulsive (even if I’ve spent years convincing myself I’m super chill and easygoing). In reality, I’m pretty high-strung. I love being in control—of what happens, when it happens, and how. What I hope to gain from this experience is the ability to just be. To live one day at a time, staying open to whatever the world wants to teach me in that moment.

So here’s the plan.

As long as my desire, safety, and—most importantly—wallet allow, I’m taking a gap [insert arbitrary timeframe here] to work on myself and build a path I actually want to follow. I’m not interested in hopping from one place to the next just for the sake of it. Instead, I want to truly immerse myself—to burrow into the lifestyle, culture, and community of each place I land.

I’ve lived comfortably and consistently for my entire life. Now that I finally have the freedom, I want to see what’s really out there—what the world has to offer, and what others have to teach me.

I'm just starting out on this journey. Follow along to see me evolve.
